School Playground
Darra State School in Queensland recently transformed their play space, replacing two well-loved but aging playgrounds with a vibrant new hub designed to make play the "heart and soul" of the school. WillPlay was chosen to work with the school to reignite play and ensure that every break time is an opportunity for adventure.
The project’s centrepiece involved reclaiming an underutilised area of asphalt at the school’s physical centre. By consolidating two separate areas into one single, central location, WillPlay helped the school maximise its green space, freeing up the oval for sports and games.
WillPlay’s Treehouse range was selected for its natural aesthetic. By utilising timber-look aluminium and recycled composites, the school achieved the warm, organic feel of timber without the hassles and high costs of maintaining real timber.
Navigating the logistics of a central build required ingenuity and precision. WillPlay ensured a safe, seamless installation with minimal disruption to the school’s daily rhythm. Completed with custom-designed shade sails for year-round sun protection, this new play heart is set to inspire Darra students for generations to come.
